Lake District Holiday Cottages

Friday, June 4th, 2010

As the seasons cycle it is sometimes awkward to remember all the stunning areas in the United Kingdom that are really worth visiting on many occasions. There are many many destinations that are ideal for the weekend or weekly visitor. We spent a lot of time in the office and we have decided that Lake District Cottages offer the widest range of outdoor days out for the reasonably and less active families that visit.

Why would I consider The Lake District as the place to visit after our considerations? It’s easy really: with the superb scenery, most of which can be walked or climbed it provides such a huge range of opportunities.

Here is an example of what I mean… By staying in pet friendly Lake District Cottages near Windermere or Kendal you will open up the whole of Lake District. It takes little more than an hour to cross from the eastern popular side of the lake district tot he quieter western side. The M6 motorway makes access to the northern Lakes almost impossible to ignore and it is possible therefore to enjoy the whole Lake District in one day; a long one though!!

What happens if you aren’t the fittest climber? Unlike many other areas of the UK the Lake District is so easy to access utilising cars, buses and of course boats that there really isn’t any excuse not to enjoy this beautiful area.

The Lake District National Park was the second national park to be enacted in the UK. All the national parks in the UK are included in legislation that protects them from the unscrupulous developer. The outcome of this strict regime is that the whole ethos of the National Park is maintained for future generations.

The water in the Lake District wouldn’t of course be so visited if it wasn’t for the tourist boats and the self drive boats that can be used on the lakes. Windermere, which is now a lot quieter due to the introduction of a speed limit, is a perfect place to take a first introduction to all waterborn sports. It is still possible to learn to water ski, as a child (weight and low speed don’t work!). It is also possible to learn to sail with the numerous sailing schools around the Lake. Most of these sailing colleges put up their sailors in nearby Lake District Cottages.

If a simple but exceptionally enjoyable holiday is what is needed to burn away those blues, then one needs to look no further than a holiday in Cumbria. The Lake District has so much to offer that it musn’t be forgotten and really should be at the top of everyone’s list of destinations.

Most Important Travel Must Do Is To Look For An Accommodation

Friday, February 12th, 2010

Sad but true that most tourist only think of hotels for accommodation. And staying in a hotel, even in affordable ones, can be really un-friendly for the pocket. staying in idyllic holiday cottages will be an excellent option, If you wish to go for the rural setting. They may be anything like a two bedroom one or a full house to fit in a group of travelers comfortably. Holiday cottages features comfortable rooms, amenities of homely comfort and a lovely view of the rural landscape.

While looking for the right holiday cottage.the possibilities are aplenty. Best way is to Google it. Cottages in Devon or owners of Lake District cottages do place advertisements through major search engines like Yahoo! Simply Google. Established and popular websites like Craiglist have a special listing of holiday cottages to meet the demand of the industry.

Access a listing. One of the fastest way to get the names of available holiday cottages in UK is to access a website which includes a listing of both owners and renters. What’s great about these lists is that renters can personally take a look at what the owners of the holiday cottages are actually posting, given that the site does not edit the information provided by the owners.

Find and visit those sites that give you direct contact information of the cottage owners. Why? Better to contact them personally to find out about the availability. unless the site gives you the availability chart contact the owner personally to confirm or cancel your reservation at your convenience. Of course there are plenty of tourists who simply walk in and are ready to pay for a comfortable lake view cottages. the chances of a walk in tourist to get that last minute cottage is more thn you unless you pay in advance.

Agree on the payment and cancellation policy. Once you get the cottage owners number call him and ask for the price and availability. Ask for the payment and cancellation policy apart from negotiating for the charges and duration of your stay. If you dont have these things organized then negotiate on few things before you send the cheque. Then again there are no rules to govern the management of holiday cottages ,so don’t be surprised if you don’t receive any agreement from the owners. But before you fly, make sure that you have everything in writing.  Shristy Chandran writes on various topics of interest like holiday cottages, lake district cottages and cottages in Devon.
