Winter Sun in Playa Blanca, Lanzarote

There are loads of winter sun destinations to choose from. Many of which require very deep pockets and lots of plane hours.  But there are better value options available in these straitened times.  Such as the Spanish owned Canary Islands.Enjoying similar weather to the Bahamas – at a fraction of the price.

The Canary Islands are situated off the coast of Morocco.A long way south from mainland Spain. And were once thought by Plato to be the remnants of the lost continent of Atlantis.Today they are the second most popular holiday destination in Spain. Thanks to a reliable climate – characterised by sunny weather all year round.

Creating the perfect environment for a vibrant holiday indsutry.Dominated by the two largest islands of Tenerife and Gran Canaria. So leaving some of the smaller islands such as Lanzarote untouched.

Lanzarote is barren and bare and is home to an abundance of volcanic scenery. So when first spotted from the air it can be a bit of a let down. But once on the ground the island’s natural beauty is quickly revealed.Especially in parts of the island like the volanic region, also known as The Fire Mountains.Which are awe inducing.

During the winter it´s best to follow the swallows and head south for the best beaches. As despite being small there are still big variations in weather conditions aroud the island.Ensuring that Playa Blanca is the best winter sun option on the island.

Much of it’s popularity can be accounted for by the fact that the resort offers high standards of accommodation.  And as a result hotels and holiday villas in Playa Blanca are in demand amongst tourists from the UK and Eire. Many of whom prefer to create their own breaks direct online.

A decade ago Playa Blanca was still a work in progress. As the Playa Blanca we know today was created by hotel groups and property developers. But the building works are all now completed.Enabling visitors to enjoy Playa Blanca´s charms unhindered.

The main heart of the resort can be found along the seafront promenade. Here tourists and locals alike can enjoy stunning views of Fuerteventura.
